Debra's Story

Life What I tell myself when things go wrong: This isn't real life, if it were, we would have been left with instructions on how to proceed! Recent accomplishments: Since May of 2004 I have lost 85 pounds, and would still like to lose another 10; no, I did not have gastric bypass surgery. I spend a lot of time at the gym these days. Hobbies: Indoor rock climbing... the youngest and I are indoor rock climbers in preparation for some outdoor rock climbing. What a blast! Kayaking... I am now sea kayaking on the Oakland Bay and Lake Natoma in the Sacramento Area. I also spend a lot of time in Morro Bay. Hiking... I recently went to Yosemite for the first time in my life. I climbed the mist trail, and some other waterfall trails. I'm taking the youngest in August for a trek up half dome! Photography........ I love photography and often go on day-outings to interesting locations to take photos (anyone heard of Loche, California??). Bryan who is still at home doesn't always appreciate his bathroom being setup as a darkroom, but he survives. Other hobbies: I am also into quilting, cake decorating (wedding cakes), painting (house, canvas, etc.), and am an avid sewer (formals, wedding dresses, kids clothes, victorian costumes). Children: I have three children; Julieanne Rose-26; David Alexander-25; Bryan Matthew-16. Julieanne was married on June 12, 2004. She has no children yet, but I'm certain that she and her husband will make me a grandmother in the next two (2) years (or sooner....they hope). She is a collections agent at a local credit union, and has been working in collections 7 years. She used to be very shy, and would cry when she had to collect from people. She is no longer shy and says "if you can't make the payments, don't get the card". David is going to school fulltime at Sac State seeking a computer science degree. He is on his last math class, and has taken every math class available at Sac State except for one. It's a good thing he's so smart, because I was never able to help him with his math! LOL He will complete his studies and graduate in Spring of 2006. As a graduation present, we will be giving him a round-trip ticket to Europe and a Eurail pass, and will provide him with spending money and a youth hostile location book ...... so he can spend a month or tw...Expand for more
o in Europe. Bryan....... what can I say...... Bryan is Bryan. He is a teenager, and very good at it. He works parttime at a local store, is on a rowing team, and dreams of going to work for Pixar. He has been studying digital animation since 7th grade, and lives for working on lightwave on his computer at home, and playing x-box, PS2, and computer games. Bryan is also working very hard on bringing up his English grade (not his favorite subject), because we have the "no b's, no keys" rule, so he is not currently driving. Poor kid, how will he ever survive raising his parents.... LOL! UPDATE: Bryan has his driving permit.. so everyone stay off the road. Dad is having to teach him to drive. I tried taking him driving in my clutch car, and he seems to subscribe to the "if you can't find 'em, grind 'em" theory... lol. School If I had to do school all over again, I would definitely cause more havoc, because I've learned more ways to do that as I have aged. I just loved playing jokes, non-harmful ones, most of which occurred outside of school. But I do recall a few jokes at the school, namely the fake dog poop I used to put in the doorways of classrooms, and watch people trip all over themselves trying to avoid it. I also putting the dog poop right next to a teacher's chair, and watching them trying to pull their chair out without running over it. My younger brothers handcuffed a teacher to a pole in the quad during a break, and my older brother was responsible for the floating condoms in the chemistry lab. As for the jokes I played outside of high school, I think I should leave those out, because it may contribute to the delinquency of my former classmates.... LOL! College I have been to too many colleges to list, and am still going to school. Who the heck really cares about this stuff anyway........ we're working.................... Workplace Work: I have been with Oracle Corporation for 10 years, as a senior contract specialist. Love the job. My careers have been very varied since leaving high school; Hairdresser for 5 years; Paralegal for 15; Marketing/Tradeshows, etc. 3 years; 10 years with Oracle Corporation. Military Why did you even bother to look at this part. What part of me even made you think that military was ever even in the realm of possibilities for me? LOL
