Deidra's Story
Life
Single mom to a 16 year old son, 3 cats, 1 dog. Not married, but have a bf.
After 15 years first as a marketing rep, then as a regional manager in the healthcare industry, I got burnt out! Did some interpreting work for awhile, sold my house in Kingsland,
Georgia, moved back to my hometown area of Dalton, GA.
I love to jetski, travel, fish (yes fish), sail and spent time with my family.
Other than that...I'm a boring person who loves to be a homebody at times.
School
Biggest crush? Hmmm.....since I didn't begin attending Hudson Sr. High until the middle of my 11th grade year...I didn't get to know alot of people. I was the "shy preacher's kid".....not shy anymore!
Teacher that inspired me the most?....I'd bet she inspired many of us that had her class....and even those of us that didn't...Marcy Kohler! She challenged me to type fast, which helps me with IMing with the beau when he's away! Update: 1/25/10: I just read where Mrs. Kohler had passed away recently, I cried and remembered the laughter and how she wasn't just a teacher, she was there to help us get through our high school years. RIP Mrs. Kohler.
If I had to do it all over again would I?...Nope...I like the way things turned out I guess...
Workplace
Work life? Hmmm......whe...Expand for more
re did it all begin.....
I worked for a national travel company at the headquarters for awhile...traveled A LOT!
A few years later I ran into a friend who was starting a home health care company...worked for her for two years, then went to work for a national infusion pharmacy company. I was in marketing and management career in the medical field.
Made a career change and opened an upscale bar and grille, which due to a partnership issue we closed it down just as it was going great.
Several years ago I learned the arabic language..don't ask me how or why...but I did. I have MANY friends in the SOF (military term) field and private security contractors and they helped me use this skill. Going back in the field again for interpreting after finishing some required classes to work for DoD companies and travel more.
The man in my life travels a great deal, former Navy and now travels a great deal.
My 16 year old son's goals are to go to GA Tech, get his Mechanical Engineering degree and work for a company that has DoD contracts. He's on his way to reaching those goals now! :)
It's been 30 years since graduation, and looking back at the changes in my life, and hearing about others over the years has been interesting. Looking forward to the 30 year reunion!
