Deirdre's Story

Life I came to England for a vacation and somehow never got back to NJ again. That was in 1969. Long vacation. Like my father, I worked as a High School English teacher, but in the UK. I'm divorced and retired (yay!) with two grown kids and three grandchildren. My son is married a former student of mine and my Oxford-educated daughter is married to a childhood sweetheart . My daughter is now an English teacher in Harrow, making her a fifth generation teacher. Both live near the Buckinghamshire ma...Expand for more
rket town which has been my home for thirty years, although my daughter did live in the States for seven years when she was studying for her doctorate. I'd love to hear from anyone who wants to reminisce about MTHS (Mr Marion, Mrs North, Mr Gasparini et al.) or any Oak Grove alumni! I'd especially like to get in touch with Peggy Baldwin, who I lost somehow along the way. (I miss you Peggy - and I don't exactly run into many of my old classmates over here - so if you're reading this, write to me!)

Old age creeping in
Me and my favourite thing, reflected in my computer monitor. Yes - I have reached new levels of laziness as a photographer. And yes, the monitor needs cleaning and yes the camera needs dusting. As I said. Lazy.
Haven't posted a 'Pippy and Me' selfie for a while, so here she is, sleeping soundly on me this morning. Nothing like having a warm cat as a 'muff' to keep you cosy on a chilly autumn morning.
