Delana's Story
Updates for 1995 to present.... After working close to 14 years at a Fortune 500 printing company and being a U.S. Navy Reservist for 8 years of that, I took orders in 2009 to work on the Active Duty side of the Navy working for the SEABEES. It is very challenging and I do enjoy being back in the Military. Family life has still avoided me as I continue through lifes journey. I completed my MSIS degree in Information Systems this year. (2013). Who could have thought that Drafting and Graphic arts taken at TBT would have inspired me to take on a more technical role as an Adult.... I am back in FL as of 2017 after a few stints across the pond and now I am looking forward to retirement. I have maintained communications with some of my classmates over the years. Everyone has different stories to tell about their own journeys. How does it feel to be 50 something? I laugh, but I have lived life and plan on continuing to earn my rocking chair in the years to come... Finally conpleted my 14+ AD years combined with 6 reserve years and retired with a hand still on my shoulder trying to pull me back in. after 20 military year...Expand for more
s done the hard way.. I never should have gotten out on my furst 4-year AD stint... recovering from a break in service is more of a challenge than it needs to be.
2020, what a year huh? I think it started in 2018... I was employed at Tyndall AFB as a Contractor during Hurricane Michael, a definite Cat5. The damage there would have put Tampa on its knees. Feel Blessed often, as nothing is ever promised to include tomorrow. I feel accomplished for being part of the AFB rebuild initiative. A Communication/Network girl still thriving in a Construction field of work and the cool part is when I meet other Seabees. I can honestly say that I have not met anyone from my hometown on any of my journeys to date, but I am interested in everyone’s life paths... Decisions we made has pulled us all in so many directions. 24 Dec is my layoff date... fighting with the decision to complete working with all branches of service or play farmer and keep my garden going while living on a budget... decisions to make now at 55 yo. :). Decided to play Farmer and become a Therapeutic Foster Parent going on the 3rd year now in North Florida.
