Delpha J's Story
After graduating from Lewis & Clark, I attended Gonzaga University and graduated in 1959 with a Bachelor of Education. My first teaching job was at Riverside High School in Milan, Washington. In 1960, I married my first husband and retired from teaching to start a family. We have four children born between 1961 and 1970. In 1975, my husband died and I returned to school to earn a Master's in Counseling from the University of Oregon in 1977. ren. At the time, I was an Assistant Professor in the Center for Gerontology and continued working there until 1992 when budget cuts forced the closure of the Center. I started a part-time private counseling practice and taught at Marylhurst University as an adjunct faculty member until 2002. My husband died in 2004.. I continued a part-time counseling practice until 2015. In 2017 I moved into a continuing care retirement community. I remain active, albeit a little slower and am enjoying life.as a retiree.
