Caleb's Story
Military
I joined the military in 1959. After basic and advanced infantry training, I was assigned to the l0lst Abn Dir and went to jump school. I spent most of my 20 year career with the l0lst. I had four overseas tours. Once in Germany for two years; twice in Viet Nam; and once in Thailand. After five years of enlisted service, I went to OCS (Officer Candidate School). My decorations include 2 Silver Stars (1 US and 1 Veitnamese), 3 Bronze Stars, 2 Meritorous Service Medals, 2 Army Commendation Medals, Purple Heart, 2 Good Cobuct Medals, Combat Infantryman Badge and Parachu...Expand for more
tist Badge. While I was in the service, I completed my bachelor's degree and immediately after retiring completed my master's degree. In 1980, I moved back to Montana to work for the state. In 1988, I was offered and accepted a position with the State of Nevada. I retired from the State of Nevada in 2001. I have served on the Carson-Tahoe Hospital board since 1999 in various capacities including a five year stint as the chair. I currently live in Carson City during the summer and winter in Thousand Palms Ca. And spend some time in Mexico before coming home for the summer.
