Denice's Story

Life I married my high school sweetheart, whom I dated throughout high school and for three years after graduation. Of course, it's a wonder we did date as he went to Roger's High School and I didn't and he had to be escorted back to the Roger's side of Joe Albi Stadium by some of our band members (boy that was the good old days!) when he got a little too carried away with wearing purple and gold in the Colorguard section for band. Anyway, we have lived in Central Texas for four years, Northerwestern Germany for three years (got there and lived in the area for the path from the Chernobyl incident fallout and left there just as the wall was coming down in Berlin), Coastal Southeastern Georgia (yeah Savannah and St. Simon's Island/Tybee Island-Beach) for two years, and then settled down (?) here in Spokane. We have now been married for almost 23 years! I have two sons and one daughter. My oldest is in the US Army like his dad, the other son is a sr. at Roger's and my daughter is a jr. at Rogers. I have a Tupperware business and a Melaleuca/EcoQuest business also along with working two other jobs (to keep me busy while my husband is in Iraq for Operation Iraqi Freedom). School I won't kiss and tell who my biggest crush was (but every lady's first love always stays special through the years to her!). I think that my teacher, Mr Kostecka, was my biggest inspiration in the fact that no matter how badly I may have done some of my assignments, he always made me feel okay about it and told me it was okay, just ...Expand for more
work harder, and would show me some pointers about the subject he wanted me to do the assignment(s) on. I WOULD NOT do it over again....not in a million years because I always felt I wasn't adequate enough to measure up to any of our peers ideals of what I should have been. One of my favorite memories of school is the snowball fights in the band hall and then getting yelled at for them...they were so worth it....that and the band trips to Seattle for band/colorguard competition and the hand checks on the buses! College I didn't really do the college thing until I was in my late thirties. I don't really call the trade school college even if they were school. I just remember going to Kinman Business College and riding the city bus right after Mt.St. Helens blew ash all over us and I had to go downtown everyday in that mess and Kevin Porter would ride the bus with me and we'd visit with each other. It's so sad he passed away a few years ago. We miss him alot. Now, I've graduated from Apollo College in the veterinary assistant program. Workplace At the moment, I'm temporarily looking for a job in a veterinary clinic. Military I thought about joining the air force but my parents talked me out of it. I kind of wish I had joined after all because of the job experience and former soldier's preference status for jobs and such. Plus it would have gotten me out of Spokane when I really wanted to and probably kept me from partying like I did after high school. Those who knew me then know what I'm talking about!
