Denise's Story

Life I live in Sagamore Hills, OH. Our town is a bedroom community located between Cleveland and Akron. Although I have lived in Ohio for 21 years, I remain a diehard PITTSBURGH STEELER FAN! I remind these Cleveland Brown fans that my blood is gold. My husband who happens to be one of those Browns fans, actually attended the Celebration Parade in Pittsburgh with me in 2006 when we won our FIFTH Superbowl. Dave lives with all my black and gold and my memorabilia room in our basement. On April 2, 2005, I married that wonderful Irish man, that I mentioned earlier. His name is Dave Donaghue. Our wedding was at St. Barnabas Roman Catholic Church and our reception of 250 family and friends was awesome. The weather was incredible - it rained, sleeted, hailed, snowed and the power was out in half of our town! Oh...........and I should not forget to mention that Pope John Paul died during our church service. Dave and I honeymooned in Bermuda as we experienced our very first cruise. We are hooked! Dave and I have five kids between us. My Jimmy is 28 and a Captain in the U.S. Army. He and his wife, Nicole recently left Ft. Hood, Texas and moved to South Philly (Nicole's hometown). Jimmy is a West Point 2002 graduate (he has fulfilled his 5 yr. committment to the Army). He is also an Army Ranger and has been deployed to Iraq twice. He will be involved in the PA National Guard for the next 12 months and God willing he will not be redeployed again! Jared is 27 and married the love of his life, Missy. They live in Cuyahoga Falls. Jared is a claims adjuster for Nationwide Insurance in Beechwood. Missy is the best hairdresser in Ohio. Great news is that they just had their first baby in May, 2008 - Dominic Vincent Russo. He is a beautiful, big boy that his Nonna just adores! Angel is my daughter and the light of my life. She is 23 years old. Angel has Autism (Asperger's Syndrome). She is a talented singer and a beautiful young lady. My husband and I are very involved in Autism Speaks - Angel's charity. Jeremy, is Dave's older son. He and his wife, Sharon, live just about a block away from us and have three beautiful babies, Alyssa, Carter and Emily. Dave and I love being Nonna and Papa. Jeremy is a Medical Physicist at Akron General. Sharon is a domestic engineer. Patri...Expand for more
ck is Dave's younger son and he lives in Minneapolis with his mother. He is about to graduate #1 in his class in June! I work as a secretary at Bedford City Schools. I have been there for over 16 years. I still sew and have a small embroidery business. Dave and I volunteer at St. Barnabas where we work with the youth of the parish. My husand, daughter and I sing with the Prayersong Choir. As a matter of fact, we had the honor of singing for Pope Benedict in Rome, Italy in November 2006. What a fabulous experience that was for us! My husband is a Physicist Engineer and also volunteers with the Robot Club at my school district. He is truly my McGuyver. He fixes everything and we have all the coolest technology ever! We actually have TV's in our bathrooms. Of course Angel and I can't run the remote most of the time - it is ridiculously difficult to figure it all out. We do love our gigantic TVs though. I am so blessed with a wonderful family and lots and lots of great friends. I live by the Girl Scout motto....Make new friends but keep the old. One is Silver and the other is Gold. I recently got together at my son's wedding with my dearest friends, Denise Francazio (McBrayer), Susan Latess (Langford), Karen Giacomini (Spigler) and Connie (Saesan) and her husband, Sam Flora. Sharon Shaffer (Albertini) had to work!!! My mom and my other five siblings are all still in New Castle and surrounding Pittsburgh communities. There is just nothing better than getting together will all of them and my dozens and dozens of nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. Geeze...............we must be getting old. These kids are catching up to us! I wish you all lots of blessings and good health. Remember that every day is a gift. Be thankful and praise the Lord! Please continue to pray for my son and every other soldier who risks their lives on a daily basis so that we can be free here in the most wonderful country in the world! Listen, I love hearing from you New Castle people. I'm on the planning committee for our 40th class reunion next summer - August 7, 2010. If you know anyone from the Class of 1970, please tell them to get in touch with me or another committee member. Keep on emailing me. I really enjoy the pictures too. Go Ne-Ca-Hi!!!!! Love to all!
