I just received the Sisters of St. Francis of Oldenburg newsletter and spent some time trying to find my old teachers-- Sisters Lavonne Long, Carmen de Barros, Mary Anselm, Mary de Paul, Frances Ellen, Geraldine Marie among others-- many wonderful, educated, strong women. I thank them for the example and education they provided at St. Mary Academy.
Workplace

was in high school the last profession in the world that I would have imagined for myself would be as a horticulturist and garden writer, photographer, and lecturer. I am particularly excited about my book "Restoring American Gardens," published by Timber Press in 2004. This book is the result of ten years of research and it is very heartening to finally have it in print!
