Denise's Story
Living only in Austin during my childhood years and graduating from Lanier in 1966, I never thought that I would travel to 14 foreign countries and actually live in Taipei, Taiwan for 2.5 years. In addition, I have traveled to most of the states to include Alaska and Hawaii. Not bad for a Texan! I met the "love of my life in 1972 and have been happily married for 37 years. I have one son who lives in Chicago and a dalmation named Yahtzee that is now 13 years old. I moved back to Texas in 1996 and relocated to Denison.
I also never dreamed that I would author a book and am proud to say that I have now sold over 350 copies during the past year. My book, "The Passionate Zookeeper"...Expand for more
is about my father who many of you knew (Alvin Cox) who was the owner of Coxville Zoo for over 30 years. I have been fortunate to have several book signings and will be attending the Violet Crown Fall Festival in Austin on November 14th from 10-4 to share some of this Austin history.
I have kept in touch with Carol Martinson (Floyd) and most recently reconnected with Jim Peterson because of publicity about my book.
I retired from the school system two years ago and immediately went to work for the Texas Department of Transportation.
I would love to reconnect with classmates. Please come by and visit at the Violet Crown Fall Festival, 7100 Woodrow Avenue while I am in town.
