Denise's Story

What's my story morning glory..... graduated from MK in 1970... almost 40 years ago...whew! Had a whirlwind romance that started that summer of 1970... when it ended in 1971..Madaline Crose gave me an opportunity to get out of MP packed up all my stuff, stuck it on a Mattson line container and moved to Hawaii. Lived in Hawaii on Diamond Head, beautiful home with Mad and her sister Toni...another story there... oh yeah, Ken and I got back together. He was living on the North Shore of Oahu and I was a little intrigued by his picture on the cover of several Surfing Mags.. so I married him in 1972 in Waialua, Hawaii. Actually, I am not that shallow, it was our destiny to be together after going together at MK, breaking up, going together at MK, and then breaking up.... and then....the rest is history. We lived in Hawaii for several years (playing and working, playing and working).... came back to the mainland and got serious. Ken built our home in San Clemente, as well as two of my sister's homes. We finally started and ended our family with twins in 1982. After raising the kids...Ken was a hands on coach at whatever the kids were involved in...soccer, softball, volleyball, little league, basketball... and I cheered loudly from the stands. (Once was warned to settle down or I would be ejected from the stands by an umpire) didn't know I was that verbal, did you? Well, I did have the nickname by Mr. Wise (remember him at MK) as motor mouth. When our children were small, I went back to school to get a pre-school teacher certificate at Saddleback College, worked for the school di...Expand for more
strict in the after and before school program for the little kindergarten kiddies where I could bring my children... great job... and I was able to use my class experience at Saddleback..plus the kids could go to work with me, what a job. Well, now I am retired with a pension. I wrote in the last reunion's bio book that I would retire in 2007, and I did it on December 28, 2007. I worked twenty one years for a large school district where the last stint was as a HR Risk Management Dept Specialist I had experience in claims from a former job at an insurance company. So.... what's next. Right now I am figuring out life without the stress I had in the last job. I have a new computer and having fun with it. So... you may see different photos from time to time. Ken is still working... kids are out of school...oh! what to do. More time to cook (love to try new recipes) No grandchildren.... kids are not even seeing anybody seriously... that's ok though. I want them to seal the deal when they ARE READY. ed.note... daughter is now seeing Ian, who we love. Well I finally went to the East Coast. Did a New England/Canada cruise on the Jewel of the Seas last week Oct 11-18th, 2008 beautiful ship, beautiful country, lots of history, and we did not gain any weight.. can't believe it as there was so much food. We walked most of the tours on our own so were talking miles and miles... so that probably helped us. Retirement is good.... but what the !!!???### with the economy. I may have to go back to work to make up what Ken lost in his 401K.... so many to blame, not enough fingers to point.
