Dennis's Story

Life I was born in Berlin, Germany in 1959. My dad was in the Army and my mother was German. We moved from Berlin to California, then to Kansas and then back to Germany. A small place called Amberg. The military post was Pond Barracks. I attended kindegarten and part of the first grade there. From Amberg we moved to Ft. Devins, Mass. I finished the first grade there and moved to Rancocas Woods, NJ. My father was stationed at Ft. Dix as a drill instructor. I attended 2nd grade through part of the 5th grade at Fleetwood Elementary School. We moved from NJ to my dad's hometown of Neodesha, KS where I finished the 5th grade and did part of the 6th grade. When my dad returned from Viet Nam, we moved to Ft. Leonard Wood (FLW), MO. I lived at 72 Montrose. I attended Pick Elementary to finish the 6th grade. I attended Junior high at Wood Jr. High and High School at Waynesville High. During the Summer before my Senior year we moved from FLW to Waynesville to 211 Summitt Avenue. Upon graduation I joined the Air Force. My first day of basic training was the 16th of August 1977, the day Elvis Presley died. I remember standing at the Reception Center at Lackland AFB and staring at the newspaper stands and reading the news. From Lackland I went to Sheppard AFB to learn my trade. After Sheppard I went to Andersen AFB, Guam. After Guam I was stationed at Altus AFB, OK. At Altus, I ran into Terry Hall who was a...Expand for more
Waynesville High classmate. We lived in the same dormatory cubicle. From Altus I went to Tinker AFB, Oklahoma (Oklahoma City). From Tinker I got out of the Air Force for 10 months. I re-entered the Air Force and was stationed at McConnell AFB, KS. At McConnell I ran into Glen Carter who also attended Waynesville High School. I spent one year at McConnell before being reassigned to Tinker AFB. While stationed at Tinker AFB I ran into Greg Trujillo who lived two houses down from me in post housing at FLW. I spent 4 years at Tinker before going overseas to Rhein Main AB, Germany. I spent 4 years there and was reassigned to Cannon AFB, NM. I spent 6 years at Cannon AFB before being assigned to Moody AFB, GA. I retired from the Air Force after 2 years at Moody AFB. I moved to Oklahoma City. I am still living here and enjoying life. It is here that I met my very beautiful and wonderful third wife Rita. We are both very happy and are enjoying our life together. I have 1 daughter and 2 sons from my previous 2 marriages; Crystal 21, Mark 17, Russell 16. I have 1 granddaughter named Mackenzie. I have 3 stepsons and 2 stepdaughters, one stepgrandson and one stepgranddaughter. I am employed by Luckinbill Mechanical as a Commercial Sheet Metal Foreman . Take care and may God bless!
