Dennis's Story
After 5 years at Germantown (5th through 9th grades), I transferred to Overton and graduated there in 1968. I then attended Memphis State (GO TIGERS!), and graduated with an Air Force commission, thanks to ROTC. While in the Air Force, I was able to earn my MBA from Troy State University. I spent 22 years in the USAF as a pilot, and retired as a Lieutenant Colonel in 1994. I then went on to be a commercial pilot. real estate appraiser for a while! I eventually was able to return to the aviation world, and was hired at FedEx Express (back to home!) in 2005, and work in the MD-11 pilot training department.
I married Fran Mathis (class of 69 at Overton), and we've been happily married for 42 years. We have 2 daughters and 2 grandchildren.
I've enjoyed being back in the Memphis area, especially so I can attend our monthly Class-of-68 luncheons.
I'm active in my church, very active in the Gideons International, love computer stuff, play tennis often, golf occasionally, and just enjoy being alive!
