Dennis's Story
Life
Dennis is a research scientist at the USDA-ARS National Soil Erosion Research Laboratory on the campus of Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana. He has 5 children - Kristin, Shari, Andrea, Joseph and Nicholas. He has resided in West Lafayette since 1984.
After high school, Dennis attended Ohio State University in Columbus, earning a B.S. in Agricultural Engineering in 1980. He worked with the Ohio Cooperative Extension Service in Defiance County, Ohio from 1980-1984 on a special EPA-funded water quality demonstration project. l Engineering from Purdue in 1986, and a Ph.D. in 1989.
His current position is as an Agricultural Engineer and Lead Research Scientist for the Agricultural Research Service. He is also an adjunct Professor of Agricultural & Biological Engineering at Purdue University, and has directed several graduate students. Research areas have been in fundamental soil erosion mechanics, erosion control, and erosion prediction technologies.
Dennis's work has taken him to many different places around the world, including Australia, China, Russia, Brazil, and Europe. He has also travelled extensively throughout the United States and Canada, both personally and professionally.
