Dennis's Story
Family: Married to Herma (43 years), three children, four grandchildren.
Career: I retired at the end of 2020 after almost fifty years in the manufacturing sector, mostly managing within operations and technology disciplines. I was also an adjunct faculty member at Macomb College in the late 80's. For the last fifteen years of my career, I was a solution architect and delivery consultant for Plex Systems, in both implementation and pre-sales roles, focused on large enterprise and global organizations.
Hobby: Making 18th and early 19th Century furniture using only hand tools and period methods. I’m kind of a nut about the subject and avidly study the history and techniques of pre-industrial woodcraft. If you are curious, I maintain a small web site about my efforts...Expand for more
along with some related historic content at dheyza.net.
Other: I am a volunteer docent at Greenfield Village (Edison Illuminating, Tuesdays, June 15 - August 31; sporadically otherwise)
Travels: Since becoming empty nesters, we've visited much of the USA including Hawaii and made numerous trips around North America and Europe. Between personal and business travel, I've been to France, Italy, Switzerland, Germany, Spain, Portugal, England, Czechia, Slovakia, Poland, Austria, Mexico, Canada, Brazil, Argentina, and China - most multiple times - and managed to fly around 900,000 miles in the process. Not bad for someone who in high school never imagined seeing anything more foreign than Windsor.
