Dennis's Story

Dennis's schools include Lindbergh High School. Dennis later attended St. Louis Community College at Florissant Valley (Associate of Arts (AA). My dad had a new house built at 725 Eunice Dr. between Bompart and Summit in Webster Groves in 1961. It backed up to my sister house on N. Forest. I attended Webster Groves High for my sophomore year and Plymouth Junior High in Webster Groves for my freshman year. My father died of a heart attack in summer of 1962. Moved to Blueberry Hill on Vontalge Rd. in south county in 1963 at 4217 Sunnyview Dr.. It's amazing how life changes unexpectedly. Since I only went to Lindbergh for only two years, I am sort of mad at myself for not meeting and connect with students. Joined the naval reserve after graduation. Boot camp at Great Lakes. Spent nearly 2 years stationed in Norfolk, VA. First assignment was shore duty for a year at Comservlant. Next, sea duty aboard USS Georgetown. Went thru the Panama Canal in 1967 and then crossed the Equator. Married on Oct 16, 1971 to Marilyn Messmer, Cor Jesu,'67. at Our Lady of Providence Catholic Church in Crestwood, MO. Had various jobs until enrolled at Flo Valley in 1975. Associate Degree in 1976. Hosted weekly 50's & 60's oldies show at college radio station, KCFV until 1990. Have a daughter, Karen, born in 1975. Son, Jimmy, was born in 1979. Daughter has 3 children, Maddy, 18, and twins, Samantha and Tommy, 15. Son has a boy, Simon, 17.. All live in the south county area. Started at CMI in 1977. Retired in January,2014 when wife reached age 65. Retired after 36 years at CMI. Vacationed almost every summer at Lake of the Ozarks. Been to Florida several times. Yellowstone N.P. Cruise out of Tampa, FL to western Caribbean. Now I spend too much time on the computer. Walk at St. Margaret Mary Alacoque Parish indoor track in the winter time for 4 miles. During summer, I walk 3.7 miles thru Cardinal Springs subdivision behind me. Have a collection of 50's & 60's pop hits. Love my oldies. Have 500 CD's. Have a collection of the old KXOK Jingles, But not all. The homepage of the Lindbergh class of '65 Class Connections has 2 jingles from WIL & KXOK that I submitted. A WIL/Lindbergh jingle and a KXOK/Lindbergh jingle. Purchased 2006 Ford Mustang GT with 12,200 miles back in Aug 2014. My dear ...Expand for more
brother talked me into that one! Back in Oct 2015, traveled old U.S. 66 from Illinois to California. It was an 18 day trip. Put 5500 on the Mustang. In 2016, Joined Route 66 Missouri Association. The Missouri 66 Association does a yearly car cruise on a weekend in September from Friday to Sunday. Go to "Missouri 66.org". In September, 2016, took a road trip around Lake Superior in Canada with 2 couples we met the year before doing the route 66 Later, we drove down along the Mississippi river and met up with other couples from 66 trip and drove U.S. 6 across Iowa.. In June, 2017, took a 10 day trip to Virginia. Visited, Williamsburg, Jamestown, Yorktown and Norfolk. It was 50 years ago that I was stationed in Norfolk. Took a bus tour of the Naval base. Since 9-11, no cars allowed by tourist. The naval base has expanded since my time there. Colonial Williamsburg was worth the visit. A scenic roadway. Colonial Parkway, connects to the colonial towns of Williamsburg, Jamestown and Yorktown. In June 2018, went up to Dearborn, Michigan to visit the Henry Ford Museum and Greenfield Village. Toured the Ford truck plant. Headed over to Lansing, MI to visit Craig Parrish, who does the Route 66 Tour, and the Oldsmobile Museum. Stopped in South Bend, IN to see the Studebaker Museum. In June 2019, followed the Lincoln Highway thru Illinois, Iowa and Nebraska. In July 2019, went to Texas to visit both Bush Presidential Museums, LBJ Museum, Kennedy Sixth Floor Museum, The Alamo, River Walk, 3 Missions, LBJ birthplace, President Eisenhower birthplace and up to Little Rock to see Clinton Museum. In 2020, We were suppose to go to Mt Rushmore with 22 couples in early June, but was cancelled due to the corona virus. It was again cancelled for 2021. In June,2022, took a 10 day visit to Utah to visit the 5 National Parks. Go to car shows in South County and Arnold whenever I can make it or remember it! Back in Dec. 2022, I totaled my 06 Mustang with black ice. Not a happy camper about that incident. Had the Mustang fixed which has a rebuild title. Selling the Mustang to the person who does my taxes. In Jan , 2023, I purchased a 2007 Mustang GT/CS convertible. Joined 55+Club at Assumption Catholic Church on Mattis Rd. I'm trying to keep out of trouble (with wife). It's not working! HELP!
