Dennis's Story
After Cathedral I went to college in Wisconsin at Marquette. After graduating, I worked with Runaway/Street kids for part of a year at Covenant House in New York City, then returned to Western Mass where I worked for the department of mental health for 10 years, during which time I got my MSW. In 1988 I felt a calling to work with the dying and spent the next 14 years as a bed-side hands-on nurse working with people who were dying of cancer. probably is the most important and satisfying work I have ever done. I got my RN very shortly after starting there so I could do it more completely. The home closed in 2002. For the last 7 years I have worked as a combination MSW/RN on a psychiatric crisis team here in Fall River. I spend lots of time in the emergency room doing suicide risk assessments. I am single, at present, though I have a house full of dogs! I'm just starting to get gray but I have a bald spot the size of the ozone hole in the South Pole! Life is good!
