Dennis's Story
Life
After high school I attended Lon Morris Jr. College in Jacksonville, Texas. I majored in Performing Arts (Theatre). I quit college after a year and a half and hitched-hiked around the country. In 1978, I joined the Unification Church (moonies). I was supposed to attend the Madison Square Garden mass wedding in 1982 but my partner chickened out. After that, I fell in love with a French girl (who, unfortunately, was already married by Rev. Moon) and followed her to France. It didn't work out but I started composing more songs at that time. I play the guitar and harmonica. I guess you could classify my music as country folk blues. I drifted away from the UC and went back to college in 1986. I attended University College at the University of Maryland part time. My major was History. In 1990, I moved back to Houston and received my B.A. in History from the University of Houston - Clear Lake. I was attracted to the Futures Studies program there and obtained an M.S. in 1992. After that, I enrolled in the Ph.D. (Political Futures) program at the University of Hawaii; however, I soon quit and decided to t...Expand for more
ravel to Asia. In Korea, I met other foreigners who were teaching English as a Foreign Language (EFL). I decided to do that as a means of extending my travel. I stayed in Korea for 7 months. I attended the 20 year reunion in 1993 and I got married in 1994 to a Filipina I met while traveling in the Philippines. I taught EFL at a children's institute in 1996. We had a child in 1997 but soon afterwards divorced. In 1998, I came back to Korea to teach EFL in the university. I taught for two years and then took a break in the Philippines for 6 months. I met my current wife at that time. I came back to Korea to teach EFL in the year 2001. I have a son 4 years old. His name is Ray Francis Austin Morgan. Recently, I received another Masters in TESOL (Teaching English to Students of Other Languages). Just this year (2005), I transfered jobs. I now teach English Composition at Korea University. Since I'm able to make and save more money here, I'll probably stay in Korea for a few more years. I don't know if I'll ever head back to the U.S. What for? I certainly won't live there while Bush remains its president.
