Dennis's Story

Life My Job Well, I'm now in Lakeland, Florida and have been since 2001. Since I last put my info in we (MCI/Worldcom) have been bought by Verizon. I've managed to survive several rif's but you never know. I'm currently managing IT projects in Fl, MO and Denver, Co. Not a bad gig. The IT world, as with everything else, is constantly changing. Good thing I don't mind change. Looks like I'll miss the 40th reunion for the class of 67. We're busy migrating Verizon platforms to our side and it looks to be a very busy spring, summer and fall for me. Take care everybody. Drop me line if you happen on this profile. UPDATE 2010: Well, all my worst fears came true. After 15 years with MCI/Worldcom/Verizon I got caught in a Management Reduction if Force last year. Haven't been able to find a job yet but still looking. Good news is I'm able to meet all my bills and house payments so it's not too ...Expand for more
bad. Let's see, what else...Oh, I know...after one too many back operations for a spinal tumor(non cancerous)I'm in a wheelchair. I've been 5 years in it now and I'm doing just fine. Anyway, I hope all are well. Take care. Update OK, here it is, Labor Day 2012. I'm officially retired now. i volunteer at the Lakeland SPCA 3 times a week and it's great. I've been doing that for 3+ years now. Life has been interesting so far. I can't complain. A few twists and turns have kept it interesting. One thing I've noticed in the last few years. I've had quite a few old friends die for various reasons. I know we're at an age when this will start happening but I do find it to be a little unsettling, to say the least. Let's raise a glass to toast absent friends, OK gang. I hope everybody is well and starting to enjoy upcoming/current retirement. Remember, always present a moving target.

Two weeks ago today I said goodbye to my friend, Buddy. He wasn't just a good dog, he was a great dog. I gotta tell you folks, it's 2015 and so far this decade has really sucked for me. I hope the next five years go better.
