Dennis's Story
My life story (so far).
After graduation in 1976, I worked in retail sales and in painting business for a few years. I started at Penn State McKeesport in 1979 and graduated in 1983 as a Mechanical Engineer. I was one of the truly stupid people since married my first wife while a junior at Penn State. I was married in 1982, graduated college in 1983 and divorced by 1986. Fortunately we didn't have kids.
I went to work for Allis-Chalmers Hydro Power Company in York PA in 1984 as a sale engineer selling hydropower equipment. I sold turbines into Hoover Dam and other major projects. I met Pat my wife in 1986 at Allis-Chalmers. In 1987, our company was bought out and I was offer a promotion and transfer to Seattle. Pat and I moved to Seattle in Jan of 1988, where I opened a hydro sales and service office for Voith Hydro.
While in Seattle I started racing sports cars. I raced a 1966 Alfa Romeo GTV, which I built from the ground up.
Pat and I married in 1989 and had our daughter ...Expand for more
Sara in 1990. Steven followed in 1992. We moved to Denver in 1993, to Connecticut in 1997 and quickly back to Denver 14 months later. We missed the West.
We do a lot of camping, not enough skiing but in general we just enjoy living here. We are a day's drive from the Grand Canyon, Moab UT, Lake Powell, the Black Hills of North Dakota, Yellowstone and Mt Rushmore. We have a property in Georgetown, CO that has native 10 inch plus brown and rainbow trout. In the winter big horn sheep hang out near my building.
I am still working in the power generation industry. I'm Manager of Business Development and Mergers and Acquisitions for an independent power producer, North American Power Group, Ltd. We have operating power plants in California and we are developing a new coal fired project in Wyoming along with a bunch of wind power development. In 2004, our family bought its own small power plant, a hydro power plant in Georgetown Colorado. We produce and sell power to the local utility.
