Dennis's Story
Hello Classmates,
I have had a very interesting life since High School. Wanda Cain and I married less than a year after I graduated. We went on to have 3 sons and now have 6 grandchildren. Wanda and I were married for 33 years and then divorced in 2007. Wanda just did not want to be married anymore.
I became a Police Officer in 1979 for the City of Rawlins Wyoming. Wanda and I spent 2 1/2 years in Rawlins before returning to Marina where I became a Marina Police Officer. I was a Police Officer in Marina for 5 years and then I transferred down to the Oceanside California Police Department near San Diego where I spent the rest of my career. Being a Police Officer in a big city in Southern California was a real experience. Lots of gangs, drugs and crime. I think I saw everything possible working down there. Lot's of stories to tell.
The last 10 years of my career I was a Police Motorcycle Officer. THE BEST JOB ON THE DEPARTMENT. I got to ride a motorcycle on the beach in Southern California and get paid for it. I LOVED IT.
Then came March 11, 1998. I was on duty on my motorcycle when a hit & run suspect shot me in the face with a .38 caliber handgun. The bullet hit me on the right cheekbone. Needless to say, after months and months of hospitals and doctors, I was unable t...Expand for more
o return to full duty so I was forced into an early retirement. I retired in 1999.
I spent the next 10 years working as a Licensed Private Investigator for a Law Firm in San Diego. I also did insurance fraud investigations for an investigations company based in Dallas Texas. In 2010 I called it quits due to complications from my bullet wound and retired.
I spent the next 2 years traveling and living in Mexico. I had a great time. The people and the beaches were awesome. I traveled around and lived in numerous cities. I married a Mexican lady while in Mexico and brought her back to the US with me.
In August 2012, I decided to leave Mexico and return to the US to be closer to my parents. The are both in their 80's and I wanted to spend some time with them before something happened to them or me. They are both healthy, happy and doing very well. They live in Kansas now but I did not want to live there.
I found a small 10 acre ranch on the internet in Ozark County Missouri in the Mark Twain National Forest. I moved there in April 2013 and have lived here ever since. Missouri is very beautiful, very green and lots of trees. I love it here.
Well that is my life in a nutshell. I hope all of you are doing well and if you have time and remember me, drop me a line.
