Dennis's Story

Life Oh boy, where do I start.... I can tell you that nobody from my class could ever guess the ride I have been on since high school. This fella, who led a fairly non-descript life while in high school kicked it in high gear after a few years of post-high school life... I suppose the best thing is to save all that for later and just say that I am in Yakima, WA now... where's that you say? Welp, it's in the state of Washington, duh,,, in the lower central part. It's at the transition between the mountains and the desert--- in 5 minutes, I can be up in the hills, or 5 minutes the other way, be in the desert. I can't do the 'beach to the mountains to the desert in one day' thing here but I can see for miles from my home out in the outskirts of town, very little smog. When it's 'smoggy,' which ain't often, they call it smoke haze here, (during winter time, from fireplaces and during summer, harvest). This area is known for its apples, hops and wine. What IS nice here is that it is a somewhat small town, you don't know everybody but those that you know are generally down to earth and very good friends. My 15 mile commute to work would be the envy of most of you still in LA, I battle water over the roadway from the orchards during their growing season, a stop sign or two, maybe a loose cow now and then... a two lane country road most of the way in, not much traffic until I hit town, ahhh, its pretty rough. I have been up here since Feb., 1990 and love it here. Funny thing about being up here, the things I have gotten into up here instead of during my time in LA... I have drag raced motorcycles, trophied a couple years, I have been a reserve police officer for 15+ yrs--- with a gun even (with more than one bullet) and everything, scary, huh... I have been in a popular local rock n roll band for 6 years playing guitar--- playing at the local taverns (we call 'em taverns, you may call them bars where you are at) and even in front of crowds of...Expand for more
25-30,000 people for 4th of July celebrations at our fairgrounds. As some of you may know, I married my high school sweetheart, Betty (Richmond) and had two boys with her. The oldest is Michael, he is 6'10" now at 27 yrs old and resides in the Chicago area, Steven is 24 now and lives in Riverside, nope Ontario now, works for UPS at the Ontario airport and goes to school full time, still is with his high school girlfriend. Betty and I, unfortunately, like other high school sweethearts-turned-to-marriage, divorced in '81. Grew apart, I did some stupid things, etc.... I eventually met and married Sue, had a daughter with her, Alicia, she is 22 now. We lasted about 5-6 yrs before too many hard times and stress drove us apart. Boy, those were tough times... After some serious alone time, I met Cindy and we married just before moving up here in Washington... I mean just before too. I was minding my own business, working in El Segundo, engaged to get married when a head hunter (executive search outfit) called and asked if I wanted to relocate to Yakima, WA, not asking to be relocated to a similiar but better employer like they usually do... it was my ticket out of LA and I said yes. Inside of 2 weeks, flew up here for the interview, got accepted, then got married and packed for the big move up here. After a couple years up here, Cindy got restless and wanted out... see what I mean about the life I led after high school!!! So its been 12 yrs since I have been married, found out you don't have to marry your best friend... I have been in several relationships since then, gone through quite an ordeal or two, especially last year, that was really tough... but ya know, I made it through, and you did too... kinda hard to condense 33 years since high school but I can't complain, I am fairly happy, have done some things that I am quite proud of, made some mistakes too but that is life, huh... Welp, this bio is almost at its limit... I'd love to hear from ya!
