Dennis's Story
After highschool joined the Navy. Did two tours in Viet Nam. Then went back to college and earned an academic scholarship to Southampton College (bet you can't believe that)! Soon after college with a wife, mortgage and two sons, I opened my first produce market with my brother, in Southampton. Twenty-nine years later I'm still running a market in the Hamptons, but with my Three sons helping (and pushing me towards retirement). We've been very lucky and very successful and if anyone comes out to the Hamptons please look us up, we have the largest(and best) gourmet market out here!(Just ask someone where "Schmidt"s is). I'm presently married (again) to a most wonderful person and world-class photographer. We have two grand-children! We live in the woods on a small acreage where we've raised everything from alpine goats, mini-horses, chickens, pot-belly pigs, rabbits, dogs, cats. I now help my wife raise her 12 year old daughter who is a budding equestrian (so I get to go to alot of hor...Expand for more
se shows instead of Little League) . I had double by-pass surgery in 2004 but it hasn't slowed me down much. I enjoy cruising on my boat during the Summer, woodworking when time permits, still play softball (in an old mans league), try to work out at least three times a week. During the off-season we do world travelling (exploring different peoples and cultures). And if that isn't enough I always have my three sons who live nearby in Hampton Bays. Right after high school I went into the Navy, so I lost contact with most everybody (especially being overseas for the first three years). I would love to hear from anyone out there. I have to say that over the years I realized that I learned more at Herricks by accident than most of the kids I come across learn on purpose! Life has been a blur but the background of academia and athletics from my youth has always sustained me! Hope everyone else has had a good ride! Let me hear from you all and maybe we can get together in '11 for the big "40"!
