Dennis's Story
Life
Left Tustin the day I graduated Foothill. Went to college (for awhile). Started making records as an engineer/producer (you may have some of them hiding in your vinyl). Came to London in '71 to do a TV series (Jackson 5 - Cartoons). Been here since: making records (some you are even likely to have, think British Rock Guitar and glam). Now I make noises for films (that are British, so no one sees). Married 40+ years (pretty unusual in our business) to a film editor (Highlander). 3 kids, grown up and doing well. I miss living in the USA but have loved raising my family and living in London.
I wanted to be a recording engineer and work with sound since I was 10. And that is what I did. I have been making my living doing something I love.
Five years later: After 28 years running my own facility I became a Managing Director of Pinewood Film Studios in July '08. A Tustin kid making real motion pictures that people go see. Who would have thought?
And now five years after I wrote the last paragraph, I have retired from the film studio. It was a great ride. Got to do all the glitzy stuff. Oscars, Bafta, Cannes etc. But it's time to take a break. Funny thing is, I am back making records again. Oh yeah, I got my doctorate this year ('13) as well.

o add to this. Still playing in bands and making records. I produced the new CD from Procol Harum, Novum, that came out mid 2017. (It's good, go buy it) and helping some new bands find out how we made those records in the old days and a few legacy bands try to find their old mojo.
I can feel a pull to California that has never been there before. The London winter is getting more challenging and with some of my kids living on the west coast, I can think of nothing better than spending a month or two in the California sun.
Five years since my last update.
it's 2023 and I am now splitting my time between London and San Diego spending 5 months a year in California. This has dented my record making but I am making up for it by being a good grandad,
I look back on my career with a lot of pride. I have avoided name dropping on this page because if you really wanted to know you could find out.
I am still close to many of the kids I went to Foothill with, and being back in California every winter has seen these friendships grow. But our cohort is getting on. Many of us have passed. I hope I have something interesting for the 2028 update. I suspect like most of us. It's now mostly about family and keeping on.
Message me if you want to know more. (It will give me a chance to name drop!)
