Denny's Story
Life
I live in the mountains in North Carolina now and love it. My wife, Shaun, and I spend much of our free time with our grandkids. We have 4 kids, all grown now. We own a small business, a house and life has been pretty good to us, although we are working on retiring soon. We have been together since 1988. I married UP for sure. We have been together for 20 years now, and it just gets better and better each year. Right now we have 3 dogs and 2 cats. We had several more last year but we lost 3 of our dog and 4 cats to old age. But give us time, we'll probably have more soon. We love animals. We have 3 girls and 1 son. Our oldest, Angela, is a teacher / mother / wife. Ashley is also married and has her own dog training business. Ashley has recently given us a new granddaughter, Claudia Charles. Our son Chris is one of those artsy type in the construction business. He can do just about anything and is always in demand. Our youngest, Jennifer, has 2 kids. She is one of the managers of a big resort in the area. I'm pretty proud of all of them.
Workplace
After I came home from the Navy I worked on a ship for an oil company out of Houston, Tx. for a while. Met my first wife and had 1 daughter, Ashley. That marriage lasted about five years. Got custody of Ashley and moved to Florida. I mostly worked in photography and retail management (one hour photo management). That's where I met my current wife and soul m...Expand for more
ate, Shaun. We have been together for 20 years now and are very happy together. We have four kids. All grown and out of the house now We also have four grand kids now.
Military
I spent several years in the Navy. The whole time, I was a Destroyer sailor, DE-1056 USS Connole. Was on the east coast of the US, Caribbean, and the Mediterranean. I guess I was one of the ones that got out of Sherman. Spent time in Philadelphia ship yard, then on to Norfolk, Va. Made 3 Caribe, cruises. Went to the Bahamas, Virgin Islands, Cuba, and other islands. We had some very exciting times. War games, search and rescue, terrorist intervention (yes, even back in the 70's there were terrorists), tropical island visits, humanitarian missions, beautiful island visits. After the Caribe, we made a Med cruise. . We spent time off the coast of Bruit, Lebanon. I spent time in Crete, Spain, Italy, Sicily, France, and England. I made some very good friends in the Navy, and still stay in touch with them.
