Elwood's Story
Life
Graduated from Stockton College High School division in 1957, Stanford Engineering degree and U.S. Navy regular commission in 1961, seven years in the nuclear submarine force resigning commission in 1968. MBA from Stanford Graduate School of Business in 1970.
Four years with Data Science Ventures in Princeton N.J. - a startup computer oriented venture capital firm. Job came to an end in 1974. Moved to Seattle, WA by choice and job hunted. Became the Chief Financial Officer for Seattle Stevedore, a stevedoring and wholesale grocery supply firm. In 1976 joined a submarine school classmate, Tom Cable, at the local Stock Brokerage firm, Foster & Marshall as a VP, Corporate Finance. In October 1977, Tom and I started our own company, Cable & Howse Ventures to form a venture capital firm. I closed that company in December 2003 when we liquidated our final partnership. I still work with a handful of small high technology companies helping them achieve their financial and operating goals.

graduate. We have three daughters, Robin 39, Dana 37 and Denison 35. All are married, the first two live in the Seattle area and Denison and her ear, nose, throat surgeon husband Jonathan life in Ashland, Oregon. Robin is the mother of an 13 year old girl and 10 year old boy, and Dana the mother of a baby girl born May 2, 2007. We, fortunately, see a great deal of them.
My mother still lives in Stockton, CA on Van Buren Street in the house I grew up in. Cheerie, my younger sister, is a retired Chiropractor and lives in Redwood City and Elaine, my older sister, is widowed with four grown and parenting children and lives outside of Boston.
We are happy, healthy and having fun.
By the way, my name changed from Denny to Woody when I finished high school. I didn't realize that I could have signed my name E. Denison instead of Elwood D. The Elwood was on my name tag as an incoming freshman at Stanford and that got shortened immediately and has stuck. I still respond to Denny - my immediate family and high school friends do call me that.
