DESIREE PARDI (DOUGHERTY) PASSED AWAY SEPTEMBER 6, 2009 after a gutsy 11 year battle with breast cancer
Life
After Ramapo I went to SUNY Stony Brook where I met my future husband, Rob, on my very first day. We were engaged 1 year later and married in October of 1989 and have been married ever since. We then moved out to Scottsdale, Arizona (I had to get him away from his mother somehow!) but found that we both missed our families and so returned to live in NYC. so lived elsewhere. First, I spent one year traveling between NYC and Ohio where I finished my PhD. After that we lived 4 years between NYC and Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates, which I classify as one of the best experiences of my life! One of our favorite hobbies is travel and as a consequence we have traveled all over the world. Currently, my 2 favorite places are Southern India (where I volunteer in a hospital in a very poor rural area) and Dubai (which is quite the opposite experience!). Otherwise we live a quiet life in NYC with our little toy Yorkie, Duncan.
