Dewayne's Story
Here we go.
After high school I attended College at Chickasha for a year and a half, geting married to my high school sweetheart after the first year in college, started a family almost as soon as we got together, Had a son , named him Jerry Wayne . Dropped out of college in Dec. 1970 as I had a car accident on the way to college and totaled out my car, witch was financed and I didn't have insurance to pay it off, so went to work full time.
Tryed my hand at selling Insurance for two different companys.
Was active in church at this time, serving as Sunday School superintendent. Was singing in church choir and in 1973 was ordained a deacon and set on the board of Deacons.Went to work for Byerly and Rogers Pontiac in Duncan in parts dept.. Went from there to Motor Supply as manager of sales counter.
Joined the Marlow JayCees, and in 1974 was President of Jaycees.
In 1983 joined the Marlow lions Club and was President in 1995. Was ordained and ELDER in our church. At the same time I set on the board of Marlow Chamber of Commerce serving as sec.-Treasured. Also served on the United Way Board for one year, and was Marlow Chairm...Expand for more
an for a year. Set on the United Way of Stephens County one year.
I still work with chamber each year when the have a talent show with the high school student council.
In the '90 I was in gunfighters, shoot out and program during the Festival that the chamber sponsored each year.
Was Marlow Chamber MAN OF THE YEAR in 1995.
In 1980 we had our second son, Stephen Lee.
Played Santa(RED SUIT AND BEARD) at church in 2001 and 2002.
I have worked in three grocery stores, Pratts, Krogers, and then back to Martins(WHo bought out Pratts). At the same time as at Martins, My father-in-law bought out the lumber yard in Marlow, and I worked there part time until about 1982, when I changed to full time. In 1999 bought a store in Duncan, bolts and nuts store, and that is where you will find me today....
2020 in Sept. closed store in Duncan, moved to Marlow in building my son Jerry owns, am now at 208 legion Drive. Tried to semi-retire and work out of garage at home , but Beverly didn't like that idea so told son to find me something to do. So am answering phone and doing paper work for his business J & S Wrecker Service, 580-658-5678.
