Dezra's Story

[preliminary] I was born... fifth of six children -oh, not that far back? Well then, how about the "readers digest" version. I grew up in Santa Clara attending Irving Elementary, Shasta middle and of course Willamette High School. I was in marching band, pep band for a season, flag corp one year, gymnastics all four years and played clarinet in band all but my senior year. Over all, I intend not to put a lot of detail about me because 1- it would take a lot of time and I don't want to spend that time on the computer, 2-not many will end up reading this, 3-those who do read it, may not have all day or want to read too much information and I'm not the author of Harry Potter (J.K. Rowling) who keeps your interest wth all sorts of imagination and 4- I've forgotten a lot of stories, faces, events and I don't have a list of questions to answer so my information will not necessarily flow smoothly, nor do I plan to spell check everything because I am not on my personal computer but on my husbands instead due to a computer virus I mistakenly let download the other day and I am not exactly sure how to spell checkfrom this site. I did not do a rough draft. LOL (laughing out loud) which most everyone probably knows this common acronym (that spelling does not look right). I started working for Fred Meyer the summer I graduated high school and have been there ever since. I had a small home daycare for a few years when my children were young. I have two children, a daughter with my first husband born in 1990 and a son with my second marriage born1993. Regarding the question of "if you could have done anything different in your life, would you change anything?" Yes, knowing what I know now, I would have made a lot of different choices but then I would not be the person I am today nor would I have my two children, whom I love very much. I am on my third marriage and as in any marriage, there are easy and hard times but I am grateful for the challenges, which I often call opportunities, in life for I know that without them, I would not appreciate the good, I would not learn and progress. My husband is fifteen years older and has three grown children bringing us six grandchildren. To be honest, my life is nothing extrordinary (I'll limit one paragraph of my religious views despite I could go on and on as my religion influances who I am) but I am a Christian and have a testimony that I, and each individual on this earth is a child of God. Think about that for a minute. I saw a bumber sticker the other day that said something like God doesn't believe in athiests. Each of us is born with the light of Christ. Some of us have forgotten where we came from but we will one day return home. While on this earth, we are being tested and tried to see how obedient we will be. Our spirits go on after our earthly life and we have a living prophet on the earth today. If you want to learn more, I belong to the church of Jesus Christ of later-day saints. We are an unpaid ministry and I am so blessed to have the restored gosple in my life. You don't find out about a faith by reading anti-literature or by hearing what others say about us, go straght to the source or come to worship with us. To find out more, go to mormon.org or to talk to a representative, call 800-438-7557. By the way, I am currently serving as a ward missionary. As members, most of us have what we refer to as a calling. This means we serve in one area of the church for a period of time, which varies, according to the lords will. Priesthood leaders are inspired to extend a calling and you serve until you are released from a calling and usually you are then given a new calling. I have enjoyed being a primary (ages 3-11) Sunday school teacher, a primary music leader, working with the male youth in scouting, a nursery worker (ages 18 monts-3 years old), and an activity day leader which works with the 8-11 year old girls and I can truely say, each and every opportunity brings challenge and great joy both. I love being a member! The Holy Ghost witnesses truth to those who put their faith in the Lord. I want to go on but I'll switch back to wrapping up a portion of my life in a "nut shell" meaning an attempt to be brief. I have worked a few small jobs like Lane Community College early Childhood development center near the time I was attending school to earn an associates degree in Early Childhood education, Regis inventory a season or two, and a varety of jobs at my current job with Fred Meyer. Theese include cashiering, working in the stock room pricing merchandise, working cosmetics and health and beau...Expand for more
ty aids, pharmacy, front end central checking management, customer service for 10 years were I trained others to work customer service desk part of that time, and now I'm back in pharmacy since May 18, 2009 becoming a licenced technician September of the same year. My husband and I started doing foster care about April 1999 until this past April 2010 when the state yanked the four children we were caring for at the time out of our home unexpectedly and placed them in another home. I am glad they kept them all together and do have limited contact through facebook and so forth. The details of this story will not be included here but I chose to look at the situation as a blessing in discuise and once I made it through Christmas with help from little acts of kindness from family and friends, I feel like the hurt is starting to heal. Those kids were my kids, after 8 years with two , 7 years wth one, and a one and one-half with the forth child. They were all teenagers and I love them like my own. In December, I did have the wonderful opportunity of picking up a previous foster child and her 5 month old girl, who live in Florida, from the Portland airport to visit her local biological family and introdce baby Isabella in person to everyone. They stayed for about a month and I enjoyed some one on one time with Isabella on New years eve so her mom could go out with some friends. I feel tired of typing and at the same time, kind of feel like adding but.. I do have work tomorrow so I must wrap things up. [interests and activities] I am enjoying reading the drivers manual with my son who really has not had much interest in learning to drive and is almost an adult. By encouraging him to become more independant, he is more confident at the near arival of adulthood. I like walking with my dogs which helps my physical well being as well. When I remember, I participate in our church emergency net check in which occurs twice weekly. In an emergency, as an amateur radio operator, I would assist the church with communications. I love being with family and friends. I enjoy sewing when I can, which is not very often, spending a little time each week reading about my family and friends on Facebook and painting pottery occasionally. My husband has a great sense of humor and is a great cook which I am graeful for because I don't really like to cook much. I am grateful to live in America where even though we have a lot of problems, we really are blessed to have the freedoms that other countries do not. I have been to several different states including Utah, California, Montana, Idaho, Florida, Georgia, and Washington. I have traveled to Hawaii, Mexico, Canada and am looking forward to and anticipating a trip this year to Ireland, England & Scotland. In Ireland, if you kiss the Blarney stone, legend has it that you gain the gift of gab. You have to actually bend backward to kiss the stone (wall?) and if we end up going there, I am not so sure I can still bend that way so I guess I better start working to limber up. It is fun to read little fun tidbits like that. If you are still reading this, I hope you have been enlightened in some way and I send good tidings to you and your family. Life is about relationships, may you work to make yours and honest and enjoyable and by doing so, your experiences will be fulfilling. If you have had bad relationships, may you put forth the effort to mend, repent, and/or move forward with the attitude to treat others as you would want to be treated. It's called "the Golden Rule". By doing so, you and those around you will be blessed! I received this one year gold membership by sending in my yearbook for Classmates to photo copy at no cost to me. I actually sent all four years so others who don't have a yearbook could enjoy them as well. Despite being with Fred Meyer for all of my adult life so far, they don' t necessarily pay well so after the year is up, I do not plan to pay to use this site and may not be able to access certain features. If you desire to reach me personally, classmates doesn't seem to allow email addresses but you might try-dezrajj at juno.com I type the address in such a manner hoping classmates will not restrict it because it restricts messages using the at symbol which you get when you type the number two while holding down the shift key. I only open from those I know so include your name in the subject ling. I send good tidings and my love to all of you who are my brothers and sisters because as I mentioned earlier, we are all children of God. Sincerely J. Dezra Johnson-Jacobson
