Debra's Story
It was the summer of 1974 when my family moved to Levittown from Corona, Queens. I finally didn't have to share a bedroom with my 3 siblings, Diane class of 81, Mary Ann class of 84 and my brother Dominick class of 88. I was so happy when we moved into our house on Sparrow Lane and met all our neighbors. To me it was like moving to the country. Grass, trees, town pools, the stores (TSS, Mays, Arthur Treachers Fish & Chips, Jolly Rogers, Sammy's Pizza, Domenico's, the Game rooms etc.) There were the Czachors right next door (10 children in that family), the Hallorans, Ragozzino's, Hannon's, T...Expand for more
ropea's and many more families on our block. I had just turned 13 that summer and entering the eighth grade at Levittown Memorial H.S. I was so excited to not have to wear a uniform to school anymore. (I went to Catholic school from first to seventh grade in Queens.) It was scary and exciting at the same time walking to and entering L.M.H.S. I made so many friends in those five years. Times back then were so different and I feel very lucky to have experienced that era. Anyway now thirty years later I am a Grandmother, Mom, Wife, Sister, Daughter and feel lucky to have such a beautiful family.
