Diana's Story
Life
Hey- First I went to Elmira College for 2 years, then I quit to become a professional rock musician. I did that on the road for almost 6 yrs., then became a professional artist & craftsperson. I moved to Arkansas in '77, where I have lived since-- in a town of 500! I took care of my mom for 14 years--finished my BA in Art & Theatre in '95, taught English in Japan for 2 yrs., got an MS in Ed. Media, then got an MSED/TESOL from Shenandoah Univ. in 2004. I love to ride motorcycles- have 3. I'm not sure if I'll ever grow up!! Everyone else is retiring, and I'm starting something new...typical! Still writing songs, painting, doing theatre. Lately I've been doing stop-motion animation, which is just too much fun and so much hard work. The Drama Club at Hammond was awesome-- I'll never forget it. Thanks to Mr. Bergstrom, "Mom" McCauley, Mrs. Claussen for their encouragement.

h so much. Now I'm an Americorps Volunteer with the Literacy Council of North Central Arkansas. I finally found a job right here in the town where I live- a miracle of sorts.
Still haven't found a PhD program that works for me- knowing me, I'll probably do that when I'm 75 or something- having no sense of proportion or accepted behavior at all! Yes folks- some things really never change... I never "grew out of it".
Lately, I've been painting in water-soluble oils & really having fun. Now I've started going out to do Plein Air painting so I can enjoy the outdoors w/o getting bored to tears. I love to go to the Buffalo National River, which is about 10 miles from my home. Y'all come see me sometime and check out Arkansas- one of the US's best-kept secrets.
Update 2011: I'm teaching Theatre now at North Central Career Center here in Leslie and I just love it! I also teach watercolor painting to adults, drawing to kids, and guitar to a high school guy. I guess I just love teaching!
