Diana (Dudley)'s Story
Life
I went to Central and then Emerson Elementry, Junior and High School in Snohomish. I foolishly married very young at 16yrs, had 5 children (1 boy, 4 girls) by the time I was 22yrs.(YIKES) Divorced from my children's father.... Finished school and started College. Married a handsome, strong man, with 2 girls, in 1967. We did everything together, he taught me so many things and I was so thirsty to learn. We always involved all the kids in our plans. It was quite an adventure with 7 kids between us, plus a dog, "Spot". In the early days, all of us went camping in a tent. During the rain, it was a real test... "Kids, don't touch the inside of the tent!!"... You know kids..they just HAD TO touch the tent..Then it was "leak city". What a glorious day it was when we purchased our 1st travel trailer.....and of course the first trip out to the Ocean, it rained. What a happy weekend we had, nice and dry. Oh, and we all ate Chili and Bean n Bacon soup...(tootley toot toot toooooot) So funny.
I drove school bus for 4 yrs. Then went to work for City of Everett, public transportation in 1978. I became heavily involved in my Local Union...was Financial Sec.,Treas.4yrs... Pres.,Business Agent for 12yrs... I also worked for my International Union in WA.DC for 2yrs as an "Organizer" traveling around the U.S. organizing with an International VP. I was very involved politically... I was appointed to the WA State Governor's Panel for Industrial Health and Safety for 2yrs. Over the years I also attended several colle...Expand for more
ges, two of which were local, ECC and Shoreline, studied the media at UCLA, human sexuality at Oregon State U., and studied Labor Law at The George Meaney Center in SilverSprings, Maryland.
Thru out this time, I also maintained my job in public transportation. This was a very exciting, busy, educational time of my life.
Sadly, I lost my husband of 24 years, suddenly.. I "crashed" emotionally for a time and withdrew from political envolvement.. but stayed working in transportation.
My Mom and I went on a 2 week cruise to the Mediterranean and traveled thru 7 countries.. Spain, Italy, France, Turkey, Monico, ect. So much history, an awesome experience. If you get a chance...GO.
Was a widow, on my own for 11+ years.
I vacationed in Sydney Australia and lived on a 53ft steel Ketch, named KELA (aboriginal for "dolfin") for a month in 2002... A great sailing adventure.
I've traveled extensivly in my motorhome, and I enjoy taking my boat out to. Especially into the San Juan Islands.
Have 5 adult children in their 40s... 9 grankids from 11yrs old to 28yrs old..In July 2007 I became a Great Gramma. WOW!
I retired early from the public transportation, on July 26,2003, after 25yrs... YIPPEEEE!!
I'm doing well. Been in the same house on Fobes Hill for 34+yrs..
I love learning new things and I'm looking forward to more adventures and new people in my life.
It's now Jan 2012 and a NEW season in my life has begun.
On Jan 7, 2012 I married a wonderfully loving Christian, Lee Peterson.. and our life together is beginning.
