Diana's Story

When I was 12, I thought that people my age now would be old. I was so completely wrong. Hey 70 looks young to me now. My best friend would tell you I'm funny, but people who don't know me very well would probably describe me as shy and reserved. I share my home with one of my two grown sons, which I find both hilarious and aggravating at times, but I am very proud of them both. They are extremely talented and handsome too (They take after their father). My first job was at a florist shop, where I got paid delivering flowers to people. What I remember most about it, is the look on the recipient's faces, everyone loves getting flowers. I've also worked as a publisher's assistant at a manufactured housing community geared newspaper, accounting coordinator at two agricultural chemical (fertilizer) companies, a 5 year old kindergarten teacher, and a 1st grade teacher. I remember chasing and catching lightning bugs ( fireflies) as a child (don't see them anymore) and spending summer saturdays -after loading up the inner tubes, picnic table, bbq grill, and ice chest- at the beach under the pines. Dad took us riding in the beach buggy at night to...Expand for more
watch the sea turtles laying their eggs. On the way to the beach I remember asking to go over tickle hill and going by the Dandee Bread packaging plant and smelling that heavenly aroma of fresh baked yeast bread. Many Sunday afternoons after church were spent at Granddaddy's and Granny's house playing hide and seek or freeze tag with my brothers and sister and having lunch eating on the picnic tables under the carport. Lunch was usually followed by cranking out and eating home made ice-cream. My favorite kind was the pineapple and not the usual fruit cocktail. I moved to the central Florida area in 1978. I'm currently an administrative assistant and appointment scheduler at a fencing company. Well it is 2020 now. I'm still at the fencing company scheduling estimate appointments and doing the commission & sales reports. There has been an "addition" to the family. A free roaming cat from work "adopted" me so I brought him home. He sure keeps my son & I entertained, and I'm sure he understands English. I was furloughed for the month of April due to Covid 19. Wow, what a strange year this has turned out to be. Everyone stay safe & healthy!
