Diana's Story
Life
I live in Clarence, MO, population 900-something and love it here! I was married for 13 1/2 years and have been very happily divorced since 2002. No children, which turned out to be a good thing. I love my job at the nursing home here, but wouldn't want to do it anywhere else. I would love to hear from anyone - several of us have stayed in touch and tried to get together whenever I'm in town, and would love to have more classmates join us!
School
My best high school memories revolve around Marching Band and Mr. Shaffer! (Does anyone know where he is now?) The trip to Branson our sophomore year was a blast! Working on homecoming floats was always fun and interesting! More great memories are 103rd Park bonfires, Electric Carnival, and Rocky Horror Picture Show with Claralene and Joanna then breakfast at Denny's afterward. And Pogo's and Roxy's. Nobody had any questions about who my "crushes" were - EVERYONE knew! If I could do high school all over again, about the only thing I would change is I wouldn't have worried about what everyone else thought - I quit worrying about it so much our senior year, and had a lot more fun!
College
Went to good old Longview! Favorite memories include meeting one of my best friends, Carol, and Mr. Naysmith's history and social problems classes. Can't forget his stories about his girlfriend Anastasia and her cat, and the piece of junk Gremlin he drove with springs sticking out of the seats and radio wires hanging out of the dash! y biggest disappointment was my first semester when I took French I and the two best-looking guys in the class turned out to be dating each other! The next semester a few of us had a few hours between finals before the French II final and wound up taking that one slightly inebriated. Poor Stacey got the giggles and then had to get up more than once to relieve herself! Carol and I flunked biology together, but have always remembered that the center ring of the tree trunk is called the pith. And so when we would be out and nature would call, we would announce that we had to pith! Terrible as it is, we have already taught her daughter, who is a teenager, that. Yes, Longview's biology lessons from 1983 will live on in another generation! When I finally retook Biology later as an evening class, there were several of us who didn't think we did well enough to pass, but after the final we took the teacher out to Bennigan's, bought her Margarita's, visited about her dog and grandkids, and lo and behold, every one of us passed the class!
Workplace
I love my job at the nursing home here in town, but wouldn't want to do it anywhere else. The thing I like best about it is that being such a small town, most everyone knows each other and we all get to be like family! Most of the residents have grown up together, and it's fun to hear them reminisce about old times! We get to know their families as well as them, and when the residents pass away we miss the family as much as we miss them!
