Diana's Story

Hello! Thank you for visiting me! Here's my story: In high school, I was fairly smart but I was one of the lightweight "loadies," dealing with my problems by not dealing with them. That stopped in my junior year, but I had already killed off a lot of brain cells I could really use about now. I learned a lot in those last 2 years! Right after graduation I married my high school sweetheart (John Zeilenga) and moved to Riverside where I remain. We had 2 wonderful soms, who are now adults. We divorced after 17 years. I was a 'stay at home mom' until my younger son was in junior high. Then, at age 35, I started college. I earned an AA degree in psychology at Riverside Community College, then a BA in Behavioral Science at Cal Poly Pomona, and finally a master's degree at Cal State University San Bernardino. I worked in the psychiatric field while attending school and psychotherapy became my passion. After earning my master's degree,I earned a license from the state to practice psychotherapy and worked at a state hospital for 9 years, until I had to retire due to health problems. Along the way, I met and married the love of my life (Ron), who is a college history professor. He has 2 daughters who are adults now, too. Our family is rounded out by Suki the Cat, who is, I'm sure, bipolar. Durimg my sophomore, junior, and senior years at HBHS, I 'ran around' with 5 other girls, the best friends I ever had. One died, something I have never gotten over. A couple of years ago another 2 ...Expand for more
of them found me via this website! Then I found another one! In 2009 we had a weekend reunion in HB and even after 40 years,we instantly were the best friends we were back then. They were/are truly the best friends I've ever had. I'd like to hear from anyone else who has had a similar experience. I enjoy reading mysteries and supernatural novels on my Kindle. I love fly fishing. My husband and I go to the Eastern Sierras every summer to indulge in as much fly fishing as we can handle in a 2 week period. I enjoy intelligent network TV like "House" and more intellectually stimulating cable programs, like the ones on the History Channel, the Discovery Channels, and A&E. I still love learning. We're planning a trip to England next year, which has been a life long dream of mine. I've always been a spiritual person rather than a religious person. I was a Taoist for 15 years but never met another Taoist who was near me and with whom I could talk and learn. In 2004 I became a Buddhist, a Humanistic/Chan Buddhist. I would enjoy hearing from other Classmates who have also chosen this path. I don't remember much about high school or even the people--like I said: killed off too many brain cells. If you visit my guestbook, please leave me a message about how we knew each other, what kind of relationship we had. I would really, really like that. My mottos: It's not the years, it's the mileage. No matter where you go, there you are. Thanks for stopping by. Diana
