Diana Day:

CLASS OF 1961
Ferguson, MO

Diana's Story

Life April 20, 2006 I went to Mizzou, graduated, and moved to California with my parents. I was the Assistant to Carroll Shelby of Mustang, Cobra and racing fame. It was quite an experience for a simple girl from STL to meet Tony Curtis, Steve McQueen, Gus Grissom, General James Doolittle, James Garner and Twiggy. I went to graduate school in Michigan and began a national speaking tour to help kids with learning difficulties. It was quite a departure from California glitz. We certainly turn corners in our life. L.A., Detroit, Phoenix, Oklahoma City, San Francisco and now Dallas have been my homes. Loving to take a calculated risk, it was a positive experience to live in so many different places. Some I liked more than others!!! Having moved to Dallas in 1991 from Oklahoma City, I've lived here longer than anywhere except growing up in Ferguson. Texans are warm, easy to know and good natured. I have liked living here. I own a publishing company which I created in l973 in Los Angeles. I couldn't write a term paper for Mr. Nowell's English class that ever got more than a "C." He said if I wrote another paper about the Sacco-Vincetti Case, he'd fail me. I did and he didn't. On the back of every grade card, he...Expand for more
wrote to my parents what a horrible writer I was without any creativity. After HS, I avoided anything having to do with writing or English classes, except when required. Amazing, what I my career choice turned out to be. Now I write lots of books, produce video packages and am on talk-radio with the emphasis on behavior management of children, relationships, and effective communication. The books' purpose is to inspire children to overcome life's obstacles and to reach their full potential. While most of you have retired, I am still trucking around. I envy anyone who is able to sleep in and be able to read the whole newspaper rather than a headline once a week. My time will come. Home is Dallas, Honolulu and Flagstaff. Once I retire for the "good life," I will eliminate the first city to live at my home outside Flag. I visit many of our classmates around the country. We all feel so blessed to have grown up in an innocent age of Elvis, the creation of fast food and the twist. To anyone reading this, I loved FHS and the joy/pranks we shared in our journey to grow-up. The experience of being raised in the Ferguson-Florissant area was simply the best!
