Diana's Story
Obviously one at a Lions game and one from a "Every Baby Deserves a Royal Welcome" baby shower my niece, friends and I began having yearly when Kate Middleton was first expecting. It is a Royal Baby Shower in the Princess' honor for homeless mothers at Cass Community Women's Shelters. We are able to keep babies at Cass and surrounding areas in Detroit in diapers for a whole year. Raffle ticket sales go into a fund so every child gets a cake and a gift on their birthday. This is from the very first shower, which was held at my church. Now we have it (well not last year due to covid) at Metropolitan Methodist Church on Woodward. It has been a huge success, and it is completely volunteer driven. All of the food, baked goods, and raffle gifts are donated. Our committee is great! This is not sponsored by any group or charity. It is an event created by wome...Expand for more
n who care about other less fortunate women and their babies. It is one of the most fulfilling things I have ever done, and I am grateful to all of the donors and to the women on the committee.
I live in Troy with my husband Jerry. I have two children and two grandsons ages 11 and 14. I am retired, having spent my career in the legal field. The last 30 years I worked as an advocate, representing disabled individuals at Social Security Disability hearings across the country. I now volunteer at two homeless shelters helping clients with the Social Security Disability application process. I am so very blessed.
I wonder about what has happened to some of my classmates and friends from high school. Drop me a line. Glad to hear from anyone! I lived in Walled Lake for 22 years, so I lost touch with pretty much everyone from school and the Heights.
