Diana's Story
Life
Update: I am currently fangirling like a 12-year-old over Adam Lambert on American Idol. (Disclaimer: I have never watched AI before and don't see myself doing it again. But yes. I do plan to go to the AI concert this summer. God help me.)
Got pets, got kids. I like them both, though not in that order (and the pets make me crazy sometimes; I'd like the kids even if they weren't mine). I'm separated, I like doing stuff to my house (just painted the dining room orange), and I have an occasional social life (see above: kids). One of my big thrills is going to IKEA. I work part time at Macy's in the men's department and now know more about men's clothing than I ever thought I would. I can spot a Kenneth Cole Reaction tie at 100 paces, and I'm pretty darn good at guessing dress shirt sizes. And that's my life. :-)
Workplace
Update: Our funding ran out at OSU,and in January, I joined Wonderlic, Inc. as Director of Youth Workforce Solutions. Wonderlic is primarily a testing company, and because everyone a...Expand for more
sks, Wonderlic is the name of the company's founder. Our current CEO is his grandson. He's also a Miami U grad, which didn't hurt my chances of getting hired. The office is in Libertyville, IL, but I work out of my home in Columbus when I'm not traveling, which I do often.
My last job: Director of LearningWork Connection, a project at the Ohio State University. We provide products and services that enable youth development and youth workforce development to happen well (that's from our brochure ~_^). I work a lot with state agencies and local workforce areas around the state. The other piece of my work is community building and peace building, both in the US and internationally. We just finished a proposal that would take us back to the Middle East (first trip was to Egypt in 2002), this time Jerusalem. I like that part of my job much better than being a manager. I'm really lucky--I've had two careers I love (teaching for almost 20 years was the first).
Make that 3 careers. We'll see how this one goes.
