Diane's Story
Left Michigan in 1980 for married life in Florida, where I went to UCF to finish school. Left for an internship in France from whence I divorced the guy in Florida (oh yes, youth and error go hand in hand), remarried a French guy ( even more mistakes!)with whom I had 2 lovely daughters,(nice result to a bad relationship) and ran a nautical deco shop. Divorced the french guy, who was typically french and a runner. Kept the business which I just recently sold. Met a great different french guy and am happily living in sin. Work for now: design and market gemstone jewelery via my website diane de saint ouen and continue to market nautical deco stuff via my website comptoir-decoration-marine and am starting up a travel service in Normandy for english speakers with bed and breakfast/tour guide/driver services. And I'm writing a novel. Whew, and if none of that works I'll become a nun and raise honey bees. Naw, just kiddin....
and to add a smallish update: website for france vacations made easy .com is up and running. Am finally after 26 years applying for dual nationality. My first appointment is in october.
Last october, my very first copyright, you know the little c in a circle behind your name when you're an author, appeared in a short story anthology entitled "Ménage a 20". Despite the title it's a collection of english language short stories compiled by the "goodreads" author's forum, and carries the subtitle "tales with a hook". It was a fun venture and the last story was co-written by all 20 authors in a sort of chain tale. You can download the collection through goodreads or buy a copy through them as well.
My first novel is finished and currently being tweaked by a professional editor who sends me back pages and pages of red underlined stuff. It's a bit like the weeding phase of gardening: tedious. so, finished is actually a misnomer. I did write "the end" but have since discovered that "the end" is no where in sight.

cts for agent searching and choosing a publisher throughout the past few months working as a concierge at Dieppe's only 4 star hotel (in France 5 is the max, there are no 5+ s or any other silliness of the newest place desiring a listing off the top of the chart. 5 is the most. So for us to upgrade into the 4th star was an achievment, and we're rather proud of it.). The clientele is varied and we have lots of english people from the upper eschelons of english society zipping through the lobby. I've held many an interesting conversation with most of them and have gleaned some names through their acquaintances. I'm thinking that an agent quest in London will be on this winter. Perseverance and luck will be needed, but geography will be on my side, whereas New york would prove rather more complicated.
Some of my short stories are available to read by the genral public nad yes, you my friends are included in this group, if you go to my author's page on Goodreads. My full authors name is DianeCondon-Boutier. If you type it in the search bar on Goodreads you should easily access my page and you may click on my writing to scan and read some of my work. I also invite you to go read some of the articles on france-vacations-made-easy com to enjoy my take on life in France.
I'm planning on staying working at the hotel until the end of the year, eventually phasing my daughter Abby into my job when she gets off from maternity leave.
And yes the biggest news is the arrival on august 17th of Cameron, her son, my first grandchild for whom I've been love struck. Gannyhood is cool, despite the age thing, although I'm happy to be a young cool gran and have no plans for buying flowered duster dresses and letting my hair go gray, even if I do make a very nice strawberry jam, thank you very much. I can tell that he and I are going to be great friends.
That's all for now. Updates are few and far between, but that's more than I can say for the numerous emply pages I've noticed on here. cheers!
