Diane's Story

We'll hello "Mighty Tigers." I didn't graduate from Morse, but I am a Mighty Tiger at heart. When I got to Morse High in the 10th grade I went wild with activity so you all should remember me. Here goes:: 1. Transfer from O'Farrell Jr. High (1970-1973) (Sang "O Happy Day" solo, accompanied by Wanda Ralph 9th grade graduation. lol 2. Junior Varsity Cheerleader 3. Harambee Club President or Vice 4. Gospel Choir (Alto) 5. Acapella Singing group - remember Cathy Jarrett (76), Ann Rainey (75), in the bathrooms harmonizing...lol 6. Pep squad - always african wear for me and my friend Cheryl Sharp - we were real cute then. haha 7. Dad, Art Curry, ran Boys Clubs in Encanto and Memorial Park 8. Sisters Brenda (74), brothers Michael & Marcus (84) all graduated from Morse. My Sister, Alisa (78) and I graduated from San Diego High. I remember night football games, mini skirts, ditching, low riders, biggggggg afros - still have mines and the fun parties and all my close girlfriends: Kathy Rackley, Deborah Cannon, Cheryl Sharpe, Willie Turk, Wanda Ralph, Debra Magee, Brenda Bethea, Lou, Kathy Jarrett, and more! I left after the 10th grade because my father accepted a job for a year in Oakland, CA. I went to the eleventh grade in northern CA, moved back to San Diego for my Senior year and lived in San Diego high district. My biggest regret was not coming back to Morse high to graduate. After graduation, I went to Mesa College one year and then transferred to Hayward State University (new name now) for 2 1/2 years. Flunked out, went to wo...Expand for more
rk in San Francisco, lived in Oakland at 23. But, my dad wouldn't let me stop until I had my degree. So, then I moved back home in Summer of 1982, but thank God, filled with the Holy Spirit - PTL. Worked for a few years at private job training schools, then finally got my BBA from National University in 19 months in 1984. Had 2 professional positions with the San Diego Consortium and Private Industry Council, and ACCESS as a program manager. I have been in the workforce development industry now for 25 years. I had a daughter in 1987 and got married in 1994 for the first time. I love it! My daughter is 24 now. She graduated last year with a Masters from Boston University in Public Relations, my husband works for USAirways for almost 24 years. I have been in Charlotte, NC now since Thanksgiving, 1999. I have been very blessed here. I managed one of the first career centers in Charlotte for five years through Goodwill, and five years for the local Urban League as project director developing and managing at-risk youth programs. I was laid off in October 2009. Currently I am a grants program "green economy" senior recruiter for the local community college. I am overweight (30 pounds), which I plan on losing within the next 5 years (lol), still short - smoking too early. I plan on being at the next Class of 76 reunion in 2016 looking fab I hope...lol The pic I posted here is my sisters, brothers, my daughter in the middle and me. Some of you remember my sibs. Hope to hear from and see you all soon. Love, Diane M. Curry McClinton
