Diane's Story

Hi you guys, I've been asked by a number of old friends that I haven't seen for many years, to tell them my life story. Hopefully this will kind of catch you up with what has happened with me and my family over the past 30 plus years. A short version... but here goes. Well, life started with Elementary, Jr. High and High School¿then I got married and my husband's job moved us out of SLC pretty much immediately. We moved to Los Angeles, Calif. & then to Seattle, WA. After that we were transferred to Phoenix, AZ. and we finally settled in Houston, Texas. After a few years of working in church nurseries, I ended up opening a large Child Care Center in Alvin, Texas (hometown of Nolan Ryan¿for all you baseball fans). I still own and operate the Center which has a 10,000 square feet building, 4 large shaded play grounds, an in-ground pool and a gymnasium. We are licensed for 210 children and I employ approximately 26 teachers. At that time in my life I had 2 boys; Billy, who is now 34 & Bryan, who is now 28. Our lives were going well but then a number of tragedies happened all within a short period of time. My oldest son was almost decapitated while driving a 4 wheel motorcycle (he ran into a barbed wire fence). Then my husband had a aneurysm that burst in his brain. My preschool teacher was killed in a boating accident and my assistant¿s son was killed in a car wreak. Within the next couple o...Expand for more
f years we lost my husband¿s youngest son (my step-son) in a military accident and then lost his oldest son in a motorcycle accident. Then we lost my husbands brother in a car accident. Although I still get emotional, thinking back on those traumatic times in my life, I know that just as the prophet Isaiah, speaks about in Is. 43:2 God sustained, protected and brought me through it all. If I had to discribe myself I would say that I definitely not perfect but I'm a kind, hard working, and generous person. I do have a strong faith in the Lord, and I deeply love those people (friends and family) who are in my life. Life for me these days seems to be going well. My oldest sons Billy graduated from College and now works with a Promotional Firm in Houston. Bryan is married (no grandchildren yet) and works as a literature teacher at a local High School (although he recently informed me that he is going back to school to become a nurse). I am remarried to a wonderful man, David (who I dated briefly when I was 15...that's a whole nother story) David and I have a son named DJ (he¿s 12 and an absolute joy)! My husband works for an airline so we do get to travel for free which is nice because it enables me the ability to fly back home to Bountiful, fairly often, to visit my family. So that's pretty much it. For my old high school friends, I hope to see you at our 35 year class reunion in August 2010.
