Diane's Story
Life ~
I was born in South Bend on March 25, 1970. I lived here most of my life and graduated from LaSalle High School in 1988. Then I got married at age 20 to my high school sweetheart. My new husband was active duty military and I soon moved to Texas and bought a home. The first mortgage payment was not even made before we got new orders sending us to Alaska. Alaska is a beautiful state and I soon felt right at home.
Then, the most life-changing event of my life took place. I accepted Jesus Christ into my life as Lord and Savior. My newfound Christian faith was quickly put to the test when I miscarried my first pregnancy. Though I grieved, I never left my dream of motherhood and soon became pregnant again. Christian was born 3 weeks early September 14, 1995 weighing 5 pounds 5 ounces while his dad was on maneuvers in Louisiana. Seven thousand miles from my nearest relative, my church family at Anchorage Baptist Temple really came through bringing meals and lending baby equipment. a. A couple years later my husband decided to leave behind military life, but as we prepared to move back to our hometown, I once again miscarried. I called a friend who has boy/girl twins for support, telling her that next time I want to have two. I conceived again right away, but because of the previous miscarriage, I was unsure how far along I was. At my first doctor visit I was already measuring 18 weeks, meaning either I had been pregnant with twins and lost one, or I had right away gotten pregnant with two. To my delight it was the latter. My identical daughters Christiane & Charissa were born at 35 weeks on October 2, 1998 weighing 5 pounds 6 ounces and 5 pounds 5 ounces. By this time my husband lost interest in being a father and we filed for divorce around the girls' first birthday.
Then I met Aaron Hipsher and my life took a turn for the better. After a year of dating and another year of engagement we were married on May 4, 2002. Since then we have gotten custody of my stepson Daltin and bought a home in South Bend.
I am a stay-at-home-mom and volunteer much of my time.
