Diane's Story
Life
Since high school I have traveled many different paths and lived a very full life . I have sheared sheep and spun wool, given shots to a 600 pound boar, run a backhoe, home schooled my daughter for a year, coached soccer, written for 2 newspapers, hosted a bilingual TV show, sung in an a capella choir, chaired many different organizations, and taught ballet and ESL (not together!). I have worked as an ambulance attendant, a librarian, a paralegal, and an office manager. In 1993 I was an extra in the movie "Maverick." Originally I was cast as a nun, but I wound up as "wagon train woman 1." (Just look for me in a dark skirt, green blouse, tan shawl and brown bonnet.) In 2006 I fulfilled a childhood dream by playing and becoming a champion on Jeopardy!

most-daughter-in-law, and two almost-granddaughters. I am a Methodist minister working primarily with seniors and Hispanics. My husband is in charge of planning for CalTrans District 9. Our daughter is a high school teacher (Acadia Parish Teacher of the Year!), our son is the Superintendent of a Helitack crew for the Forest Service. We have a great dog who keeps us company in our small home in a small town on the east side of the Sierra Nevada. Our daughter will receive her second Masters Degree in December. Needless to say, we are so proud of her!
I have been in a wheelchair for about four years due to an autoimmune condition and spinal degeneration, but it hasn't kept me down. I've traveled to Greece, Turkey and Mexico. Despite my pain, impaired mobility, weight (steroids can make you very fat), and enforced disability leave, life is good and I wouldn't change a thing.
