Diane's Story
Some of my friends say I'm a real-life "CSI" because I am a Forensic Toxicologist at the Medical Examiner's Office in Phoenix, Arizona. Basically, I test biological samples from people who have died, looking for drugs, alcohol, poisons, etc. It's a very interesting job to me.
I moved to Phoenix in 1985 because I couldn't take any more LONG winters of cold and gray. I looked for the hottest, sunniest place I could find on the weather map, and it was Phoenix, AZ!
Phoenix is (was) a great city, but it is getting too big due to unrestricted growth. The air in the wintertime here often is a "brown cloud" and rush hour traffic is bad (but not as bad as L.A.!). The summers are brutal--3 months of days that usually range from 100-118 degree temps. For that reason, I take a 3-week vacation to Michigan every year. Still, you can't beat the weather the...Expand for more
other 9 months of the year!
I love to travel (so far just U.S., Mexico, and Canada), and I LOVE the beaches of Tampa/St. Pete and San Diego's Mission Beach! The L.A. area is great to visit also, and Vegas and New Orleans are always a blast! Lots of places are beautiful and fun. I'm a huge NASCAR fan, and would love to see races at most of the tracks eventually.
I got married to a guy younger than I, named Mike Maxham, in 1997 (first and only marriage) after having my share of fun along with some serious relationships. We are still married, and he has a teenage son from his first marriage.
I used to think my parents were crazy when they retired to Oscoda, MI, but now I understand why living in the woods by a river and lakes is so appealing. When I do retire, I hope to live half a year in northern Mich and somewhere WARM the rest of the year!
