Diane's Story
I retired from the Army in 2008 and in May 2009, my husband Michael and I relocated to beautiful Texas Hill Country just North of San Antonio. We live on Canyon Lake in our dream home and are really enjoying making it our own and landscaping our 2.5 acres. It is far different than our little townhouse in the DC area.
We have two grown daughters, Lindsey who serves in the Air Force ( in Rapid City) and is mother to my only grandson so far. She recently returned home from serving at Camp Marez, in Iraq. My Grandson's name is Carter and he is five. My youngest, Hayley is a Nursing student in Virginia.
Sadly, my Mom passed away in 2009 at 91 and I still miss her every day.
Michael writes nonfiction books and runs Skirmisher Publishing, LLC as well. His most recent release is Texas Confidential, Sex, Scandal, Murder, and Mayhem which came out in July. Also released this year, Life in CIvil War ...Expand for more
America in Feb 2011. Ghostunting Maryland came out in 2009, which is part of the America's Haunted Road Trip series for which he also wrote Ghosthunting Virginia in 2008. He is now also writing for the New York Times on the Civil War, which for a Journalist is a BIG deal!
We also enjoy traveling as much as we can. Michael lectures on cruise ships so we try to take advantage of as many free cruises as we can. Given our recent move across country we have been too busy for the last year. We now have the added issue of two diabetic cats who need insulin shots twice a day. This summer has been busy with Lindsey returning from Iraq and a girls vacation to Vegas for a week and a trip to South Dakota and Austin for my 40th class reunion. The reunion was a blast though I am still stunned at how many of my closest friends have passed away.
I am blessed with a wonderful life....retirement rocks!!!
