Diane's Story
I married Dave Laurence in 1972, had my son David in 1975. Moved to Belleuve, Washington in 1977 worked for the Quadrant Corporation as the Customer Service Manager. Quadrant is the homebuilding division for Weyerhaeuser. Lived in Belleuve for 18 years and then husband took a job in Anchorage, Alaska. Moved to Anchorage in 1978, went to work for AT&T Wireless for 11 years. Divorced in 1996 and remarried Rick Barrier a long time Alaskan from the East Coast. Was laid off in 1997 from my job with AT&T when they went through a buyout from another company in Alaska took the severance package and 6 months later began working for Cook Inlet Corporation, the biggest Native Owned Corporation in Alaska as their Group Sales Coordinator in Tourism. Worked for CIRI for 6 years and recently lost my father here in Vancouver,WA so decided to move back closer to my mom. our belongings and drove out of Alaska on August 15, 2009. While I was in Alaska I experienced more than most Alaskan's living there a life time. I did a lot of Climbing, back country rafting in my 16 foot cater raft, fly fished, belonged to a Cross Country Ski Team with Alaska Pacific University, went to the World Masters Twice, and competed locally. I did most of my running in the mountains with the team and experienced encounters with bears and moose, but wouldn't have given up any of my lifetime experiences for anything. I have one son, David and a lovely daugther in law and granddaughter a year and a half. I had to leave them in Alaska. I am now back in Vancouver looking for work, which is very difficult to find with the unemployment rate so high. I would love to hear from any of my classmates who may have suggestions for employment here. I can do just about anything other than accounting stuff, I am not a financial person at all.
