Diann's Story
Life
My life in 4000 characters -- Graduated UCSB w/political science & economics, stayed active in politics, moved the Sacramento to work on President Reagan's re-elect. Met my husband Ron on the campaign and married in Oct. 85. Lived in Orange County for couple of years working for a state senator. Played lots of soccer, traveled and worked hard. Moved back to Sacramento in late '87. Worked for State of CA in recycling, for a political consulting firm and then started my own political consulting business.
Had my son, Andrew in Nov. of '93 - absolutely the greatest joy of my life. Lost my mom in '96 to cancer. Andrew starts soccer and karate at four. I join him in karate. In '96, '97 and '99 had privilege of traveling to Ukraine to teach classes on managing political campaigns.
Then there is 2001 -- turned 40 in March, earned my black belt in June, dream trip to Paris with family, diagnosed with breast cancer in July. Spent next six months going have surgery, chemo and radiation. I literally ended my last treatment on Dec. 31 '01. Cancer returned in 2008 so went all out and had bilateral mastectomy. Cancer may be a part of me but it ...Expand for more
will never define me.
Spent 10 years fighting frivolous lawsuits with a group called Citizens Against Lawsuit Abuse. This job let me work from home, raise our son and keep one foot in the professional world.
We've lived in Gold River, just east of Sacramento, since 1995. My dad still lives in Livermore in the same house in which I grew up. He remarried and we absolutely adore his wife Sally. She graduated LHS as well. My sister (Sylvia) lives in Santa Rosa (she is a year younger - graduated LHS in '80). Her two kids are doing well. My brother (Dan - class of '84) lives in Grizzly Flats up near Auburn.
Today, (2012) I am the President and CEO of the Rancho Cordova Chamber of Commerce and I love it. Great people, fun, engaging and the opportunity to have a significant impact on behalf of our business community. I am no longer absorbed by politics instead enjoy focusing on what matters in my world.
Hope all is well with my LHS brethren. Please get in touch. I would really like to hear from anyone. Life is pretty good and I've been very fortunate -- it would be wonderful to hear from old friends.
Warmly, Diann Hatfield Rogers (1979)
