School
My favorite teacher was Mr.Stroud. He made algebra fun. I'll never forget the way he danced around the classroom and made up acronyms to help us remember things. I also remember how he brought a TV in during the world series and said if we were quiet we wouldn't have any homework.
My least favorite teacher was Mr. Rosenberg ! What a little jerk he was ! I'll never forget the night the guys in the band put his car up on the cement divder between the parking lot and the driveway. When we marched back to the bandroom after the football game he almost had a stroke. I don't think I've ever seen anyone else get so red in the face ! It was hilarious. He got what he deserved for being the little hitler of San Clemente High.
At Lake Havasu High school in my junior year I loved Mr. Royal the band and choir teacher. He made music fun and interesting.
And I'll never forget the thrill of being chosen as one of the ten kids from our high school to tour with the "Up With People" singing group. What an honor! One of my regrets is that I ended up choosing not to go with them. Ahhhh...if only I knew then what ...Expand for more
I know now ! That was one great opportunity in life that I passed up and wish I hadn't. But maybe I wouldn't be who I am today, wouldn't have the great friends I have, or had my son if I had gone, so I'm happy with the choices I made. Life didn't turn out the way I thought it would, but it has certainly been a fun and interesting ride ! :-)
I owe a huge debt of gratitude to my counselor, Miss Barbara Cornwell from San Clemente High ! I wish I could find her and thank her for all she did for me.
At Houston Technical Institue in my senior year I had a lot of fun and learned a lot about nursing in Mrs. Jones vocational nursing class. I'd love to hear from my classmates from my nursing class ! Especially Marie Hines,Vivian Mandes,Maxine Gambrell, and Lynne Feutral. If any of you fellow nursing students are reading this please contact me.
College
I had the best time during my freshman year at Tacoma Community college when I competed with the speech and debate team. We travelled all over Washington, Oregon, Idaho, and Northern California competing in tournaments. I even won a first place trophy in persuasive speaking. I had some great friends and learned a lot. I am still in contact with some of those friends today. And I wish I could find some others to see what life has brought them in the years since college. (That means you Paul Gonzales, Dan Cavenaugh, Laura Shomshak, and Rob Anderson. If you are reading this please e-mail me.)
