Dianne's Story
Life
I've been teaching for the past 19 years with the first of those years being a substitute teacher. I went on to teach middle and high school severly emotionally impaired kids for two years. Then I got a job in Harrison, MI as a special ed teacher for children K-5th grades. I did that for 5 yrs. At the same school I went on to teach 3rd grade reg. ed for 1 year and 4th grade for 5year before our school downsized and I went to a town school and taught 3rd grade again for one year. I then was asked to teach special ed in the High school and that is where I have been for the past 4 years. It was fun moving to the high school because I had and knew a lot of the students from elementary school. I also really enjoy teaching with the great staff we have at Harrison High School! I do miss the little kids sometimes but it is nice not having to tie shoes and wipe noses all of the time. I live with my best friend Susan Benson and have been for the last 18 years. We live in Gladwin now and on property that belonged to Susan and her family for a long time. She has a daughter, Angela and son in law Dan who reside in Colorado, but will be moving to Indiana soon. I adopted my son, Keegan in Nov. of 1996 when he was 10 days old. Susan and I went to get him in Philadephia and brought him home on Thanksgiving that year! Then, 2 1/2 years later the agency...Expand for more
called me and told me that they had Keegan's new born sister who needed a home. I adopted her but had to go through the home study again before we could go to get her, so we got her in July 1999 when she was 7 weeks old. We flew to Grand Rapids to bring her home on the 4th of July in 1999! My mom and family were thrilled with both Keegan and Maddie! My mom passed away in Oct. 2005 and I am having a very difficult time with the loss of her!!!!! She was my best friend and the greatest mom in the whole world! I still have a difficult time without my mom but I also have some very good memories! I see my sister Barb as much as I can! It is so helpful to know she is there! I just stayed at her house in Grand Rapids over the 4th of July. Her daughter Alyssa(20) just made Barb a grandma and Barb couldn't be happier!!!!! Shane, her son, is hangin' out this summer and has one more year of school. My kids and I had a blast with my new great niece, Kee'Lae. She is absolutely precious. I'll be adding some pictures on my dear sister, the very proud grandma and baby Kee'lae. Come on all of you, tell us your story and let's see those pictures. After all, we don't seem to be having a 25th Reunion, which is a bummer to me, yet I wouldn't know where to begin getting one together, but I sure would love to read about you and see your pictures!!
