Dianne's Story
Hello Classmates of 77!
I married fellow classmate, Ron Valvo, 10 years after we graduated (August 15, 1987) and we are still very happily married with 3 chldren. We celebrate our 25th anninversary this summer!
For most of our marriage I was a stay-at-home Mom, but 3 years ago I opened my own business and I am happy to say that it has grown to the largest yarn shop in our county," Yarn For Ewe". I LOVE having my own business and the best part is that it is across the street from our home!
Ron and I have lived in Kennedy for 21 years and have spent those years raising our children and restoring a Victorian Italianate home. Ron has taught at CVCS for 26 years in Special Education.
We have 2 sons and a daughter. Michael, 24, is an actor and living in NYC where he has been in theater and now in film, most recently having worked on tv shows (Royal Pain with Henry Winkler, and Boardwalk Empire) and a Ben Stiller movie. Mary, 22, has just earned her Master's and is an adjunct professor of English at University of Pittsburgh at Bradford. Matthew is 15 and a freshman in high school and loves to play the drums (loudly!).
My interests and hobbies i...Expand for more
nclude knitting, crochet, home decorating, antiques, reading, walking/working-out, travel, theater/concerts, cooking, and spending time with my family.
Browsing through Matthew's yearbook brought to mind so many memories of FHS. The teachers,, "Stretch", Senior skip-day, the painted windows in the lobby, the football games (especially Dunkirk-Fredonia), the smoke rolling out of the bathrooms( that had about a million Newport butts laying around), the pay phone in the lobby, the cots (along with a phone) in Mrs. Joy's office, the school store, jumping out the windows in Mr. Woods' classroom, the brownie sales in the lobby for clubs, the dances with the McClenathen's band, proms at Sherwood, -----so MANY memories.
And who can forget cruising at the Point and Wright Park???!!! I'm sure you all have your own memories as well, and perhaps some of those memories are painful. I know I have a few of those too, but I choose to remember that we were kids and kids can do dumb things. I hold no grudges and hope that none are held toward me.
I hope to see all of you at the next re-union. Until then, I wish you happiness, health, and love.
Love, Dianne
